I offer waxing services for both male and females and currently only use the warm wax technique.
Warm wax is a sticky substance made from a mixture of resins and oils, which is semi-solid at room temperature. The wax is applied onto the skin with a spatula and removed with a paper/fabric strip.
Waxing is one ofthe most effective methods of hair removal, as it removes hair from the root/follicle (as do threading, tweezing and epilating). The waxed area will remain hair free for up to 2 weeks, and will require re-waxing in approximately 4-6 weeks. Please note that when transferring to waxing from another method of hair removal for example shaving, the hair must be approximately 1.5cm (1/4 inch) long, approximately 2 weeks growth.
After waxing has taken place it is not uncommon to experience redness or irritation of the skin, particularly for men having a shoulder or chest wax, but if post treatment advice is followed, skin will return to normal within 24-48 hours. For very dry skin it is a good idea to exfoliate a day before waxing.
Post treatment Advice:

  • Avoid hot baths/showers, saunas, steam rooms, Jacuzzis, sunbeds/sunbathing for 24 hours (these should also be avoided 24 hours BEFORE treatment).
  • Deodorant should be avoided for underarm waxing for 24-48 hours.
  • Make-up should be avoided following facial hair removal (both waxing and threading) for 24 hours.
  • Tight clothing should be avoided following any waxing treatment for 24 hours.
  • Exfoliate 3 times a week to minimise ingrown hairs.
  • Moisturise daily
  • No false tan application on the area for 24 hours.
  • No massage, heat or friction to the area for 24 hours.
  • No swimming in chlorinated water for 24 hours.
  • No high-impact exercise for 24 hours.
  • It is important to re-book for 4-6 weeks, because if re-waxing is done earlier or later than this then the results are unlikely to last as long the next time due to the growth stage of the hairs.
